I strive daily to support schools in creating challenging, thoughtful and joyous learning experiences for children. This has been my focus throughout my career in education—as a middle school language arts teacher in New York; as vice-principal, then principal of a large, Title 1 school in San Pablo, California; as an executive director for elementary schools in San Francisco, and as a literacy consultant in California and New York.
Currently I am the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for Hayward Unified School District. In this position I bring a problem-solving, school centered approach to district leadership that has been informed by my experience as a LEEP student. Since graduating from LEEP, I have joined the program as an instructor. My teaching is focused on helping students successfully complete their Milestone courses on mapping the knowledge base in their research area.
In addition to having earned my doctorate at UC Berkeley, I completed my undergraduate degree here. I also earned a Masters of Arts in English Education and a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.
